i have hunted on the net tonight & haven't been able to find any info on this. i want to put one of these behind a BBC chevy that makes around 475hp & 550ft/lbs. it also has a 150 shot of gas. the propose vehicle is a 69 chevy truck i have a couple of questions?

1. who makes a stand alone computer for (how much $$) these

2. who makes a speedo conversion to drive a factory speedo?

3. does any one make a stall converter i will need one around the 2500rpm range?

are the conversion parts affordable?

Last I recall, the standalone setup for the 4L80E was upwards of $500.

jagsthatrun.com has various speedometer/VSS drivers that might be what you are looking for.

TCI,Compushift,there are a couple of others also. You can also use a 91-93 chevy diesel truck computer that came with a 4l80e.

There are a couple of manufactures that make a gizmo to take a VSS signal and run a mechanical speedo - if thats what you are asking.

Several companies - Jet is one and there is a place in Phoenix - Performance Transmission I think.

Subjective question. Yes if you want or need to run a 4l80e - and you can afford it. No otherwise. I have bought TCI controllers for $400. A new Compushift is around $950. Plus you need VSS input, RPM input and TPS input.

I'm not trying to hijack this post (sorry), but I went to jagsthatrun.com, and they say ALL TBI engines use VSS, I don't think so....... My '87 doesn't, or does it?? Again sorry, and now back to your regularly scheduled post!

your TBI has a VSS, but it is on the back of the cluster, driven by the speedo cable

Yep. Electric Speedo's are the only ones that didn't use gears to drive the speedometer/VSS.
