You've probably got a short somewhere, and you are tripping one of the circuit breakers on teh fuse panel, which is then resetting itself.
Nothing would work (or work poorly) if you had a ground problem.

Thanks I will check, I did determine the hot stereo wire is tapped into the cigarette light hot lead. And I beleive that the dome light is also on this circuit. I will be looking at my wiring diagram tomorrow.
