The 203 and 205 are not easily interchangeable on the TH400 like they are on the TH350... each version has a different output shaft on the tranny. Your better off sticking with the tcase that was originally used on your transmission so you don't have to tear in and replace the output shaft.
GM finally made the tranny output shafts common in the 80's with the round pattern adapters (205 and 208 only). So those two are easy to swap around with the correct adapter.
