So the right bedside of my 1982 K30 3+3 was crushed in right in front of the tail light. Due to this, I have caught the tail light on multiple things, and broken it repetitively. I just straightened the tin work out around the tail light the best I could, and mounted a new tail light tonight.

Here you can see how far it sticks out from the bedside. Tree branches love to catch that. I apologize for the low quality cell phone pictures.

Here is the view from the rear of the same thing.

Here is a side view, notice I buffed up the paint.

It's ugly, but so is the rest of the truck. That should make the tail light last a little longer.

View from the front. You can see the bedside is really crushed in, so I only got to weld the top and the bottom, I am not to worried about it though.

I like that. Good thinking. What about maybe some metal to make a skid to keep stuff from catching that edge and pulling on the whole thing?

Yeah, now that I think about it, I should have flipped it over, and welded it with the angle in. I don't think it will give me any problems though.

Probably not unless you tag it on something that REALLY isn't moving.

. . . and at that point, I am probably going to lose the tail light either way.

Cool tail light guard but I have to agree about it being turned around. If my math serves me right just about anything the angle piece hits will fold it over. Then you will have a broken tail light AND two holes from the welds:doah:

Branches are what keep breaking my tail light. They won't rip that angle iron off.
