Have a bit of a problem and am not sure which would be easier, keeping in mind that "easier" is relative. I have 2 Blazers, and getting another in a couple weeks.
What I have:
Blazer 1: (79)runs and drives, but thats about it. Alot lot of the body is rotten, frame has a ALOT of rust, one of the crossmembers is rotten. Hey, it was CHEAP.
Blzer 2: (82) Bought for practically nothing to use as parts, its only partial. Frame looks GREAT, either has been redone or has never been ofroaded. No front clip on this one, tub has a good bit of rust too, and PO cut one of the rear quarters off it, including door pillar:( .
Blazer 3: (79)This is the one I'm picking up in a couple weeks. Tub is nice,a couple small spots to patch in the floor and thats it. Frame looks ok, has some surface rust but no real scale, no rot. VERY cheap too.:D
Also I have a very good front clip from an 84 to go on it, a set of 3/4t axles ready and waiting to go under it, along with a set of 38's., 4 " front springs, rear shackle, yada yad a ydada. I'm going to use the drivertrain from #1, as its the only one that has one.:wink1:

My delimna is this: Should I use the nice frame from Blazer #2, swap on #3 tub?
Raise #3 tub up enough to work on it, clean it as best I can and paint it?
Say screw it, drop the drivertain into #3 and wheel the wee out of it and not worry about until I have to?
Keep in mind that I do most all the wrenching by myself without help, and this thing is for light to moderate wheeling, trails and mud, nothing extreme. Its just my knockaround rig for me and the kids to play around with. My leanings right now are towards option #3...or maybe 4:D . Just looking for some insight from some who have BTDT I guess.
I know that if I start trying to take off body mounts and things I'm going to end up with broken bolts and mounts too probably, and will more than likely have to replace bushings and alot of other crap. This is NOT a DD.

Unless #3 has engine, tranny tansfer case, swap your drivetrain into it. Put the '84 clip on it & if it has a solid core support I'll take it off your hands.

Yeah, regardless of what I do, I'm using the drivetrain from #1 and the tub from #3. My only doubt is which frame to use.
I'm pretty sure I've got a good extra rad support, Ill let you know once I get #3 to my house, and its yours. Owe you for those pulleys and stuff anyway.

If #2's frame is that pristine I'd use it. You'd probably want to paint #3's anyway. No sense having freshly painted axles & a rusty frame.(just trying to buy more time to finish my junk before you):haha:

Yeah, the frame really is that nice. Its a shame the rest of it looks the way it does.
I dont think you're gonna have any problem finishing yours before mine, especially if I'm gonna do something like swap frames. I guess in the long run that is the way to go, though...just really not looking forward to tackling that.

I would take frame 2 and put a steering brace and new spring bushings in it, mounts the 3/4 tons on it and get it all setup, and mount the drivetrain while a bare frame. Once it's all ready I would drop #3 body on and be good to go. Best of everything availible. Plus you won't have to say " I wish I had done ????????? while I had it all apart".
