So i just got my m1008 and i was testing its off road abilities and apparently i dented it. I didnt feel it or hear it. It looks like it hit a tree and left a nice scratch along the side of the bed too. I got under it to try to bang it out, but i cant get to the top of the dent near the "fold" in the body to bang it out. All i got is the base, how do i get this out!? i have no experience with body work. Or do i need to wait for the body shop to do it? Im so pissed!:mad::doah::doah::mad::mad:

the circle is the area of the dent, the little circle is where that "line or fold" of the body is crimped, the shaded area is what i can get out from behind, i get a little of the dent banged out but its hard with a rubber mallet. I cant access the rest of the area because of the bed. HELP :(:(:(

Try a plunger. Yes, the one for you toilet. Ive pulled a few big dents out with them.

What about one of those suction cups that glass companies use? I know Harbor Freight sells them (this job would justify the cheap, one time use tool). A freind of mine has one and it's pretty strong. Or you could weld a stud to it and use a slide hammer...but that is alittle more involved.

they sell a dent puller at harbor freight - it welds a stud and provides you with a slide hammer like mentioned. friend of mine used one with great results....

how exactly does that work? i cant weld, and what do i do once im done with the stud?

Edit: man this is all im worried about now, im gonna be strung out for days over this!

you don't have to be able to weld to use one of these tools. you simply put it against the dent, press a trigger and let the machine weld a little stud to the dent. Then you take the slide hammer and put it over the stud and pull toward yourself very quickly. The slide hammer catches on the end of the stud and you pull the dent out... imagine the inverse action of a hammer. You're basically hammering away from the sheet metal - pulling the dent out with it.Then you cut the stud off, grind it flush and then get a rattle can of paint to fix that beautiful paint job the dent and fixing has just ruined...

Some people fix dents?!?:eek1: Sh!t, my truck has lots, and I consider them to be badges of honor to show it really goes off-road.:D

Get a basketball and deflate it. Push it behind the dent up between the bed panels and inflate it til it the dent pops back out. Take a flat-faced hammer (prefer body hammer if you can find one) and lightly tap around the dent.

Why are you fixing the dent? It just adds to the good looks.

hmm, got yourself a couple battle wounds huh, I suggest leave them if you don't know how to fix them, its a full-sized longbed, it will get plenty of those.

compressor is going to be the easiest. If the hose reaches the ground to the foot pump i guess that can work.

this may sound ridiculous, but when i got a nnice sized dent on my door. i was mad and punched the door and the dent popped out.haha. try getting mad at it
