My Blazer has done double duty, short course racing in the Midwest and desert racing in the West. Currently getting ready to run the 2008 Baja 1000

Cool blazer. I think I've seen you when we were down in Baja chasing for a class 10 car.:D I'll see if I have any pics of your blazer to put up.

Will you be in Baja for the 1000?

As it stands, I wasn't planning on it. The team I used to help out is no longer(another mortgage co. story). The wife and I have both been itching to go to the races again. We're gonn hit the Primm CORR race coming up, but it's just not the same.

So, why don't you and your wife join us in Baja? We can put you up in one of our rooms in Ensenada before the race.

Sounds good to both of us. She's been pestering me to make some phone calls and line up something at a race, anyway. I just noticed you're in Illinois, that's a long haul to Mexico ain't it? Here's a pic I took at the starting line of Baja 1000 in '04.:D I thought I had one of you during a race, but I haven't found it.:dunno:

Nice blazer!

Am I seeing this right? Is your front suspension spring under? Or is it like a 1/4 elliptical setup (I've only seen them in the rear though)...

If you look at the pic I posted, you can see the shackle end of the spring. Class 3 requires that you use the "factory suspension design." That means you can't change it to a 3 link with coilovers or anything like that. It does appear to be spring under, but that's very common in desert racing.

Less axle wrap too. Not sure how big of a problem that is with the front axle though.

Killer Blazer at any rate.

So, Retro, I'm guessing you are Chris Raffo? Anyway, I'm gonna have to make sure I can get the time off work to make the 1000, but I should be able to. It looks like I would only have to get Thurs off, as I already have Fri off. Let me know for sure if you want the extra hands and any other info. You can also call me between 10am and 1am PDT. Number is six six one four seven eight 5736.:D

Spring under means less unsprung weight...

Confirm that you can get the time off. I'll catch up with you tomorrow or early next week. Spring under in front and spring over in the rear. I could use quarter elliptics in the rear with a four link, but until I get more out of the front, it's not worth the effort.

It looks like I only need to take one extra day than I already had off, so it shouldn't be a problem. The boss hasn't even started on the Nov calendar yet. Catch ya later, Retro.:D

Hey, it looks like I'm gonna have to pass on the Baja 1000 this year after all. My nephew is gonna be here, I no longer have a babysitter for the weekend, and work hasn't managed to "find" my damn vacation time since my transfer. Sorry.:(

Mint 400

My race blazer has been retired for awhile since I moved from AZ. It's been forever since I've been on here. I've been co-driving in a Trophy Truck since I stopped racing. I'm going to try to do the Mint 400 in March. My truck got put into the Baja:Edge of Control game. Check my site. There is some unique mods, particularly steering. Raffo I noticed you around. :)
