This is LONG overdue...

The original front fender badge for the '69-'72 K5 is begging for a facelift....

Any of you Craig Artzner types feel like giving it a more modern refresh? :waytogo:

I'm thinking something a bit more blocky and masculine, with a more modern, edgy feel.

Rob's got a sweet new HAAS mill in his garage, and I'm sure he could turn out some beautiful 1st Gen badges for the Blazers 50th Anniversary.

Im going to subscribe to this, for when I get back from the dunes next week.

Ill do a 3d Solidworks model

Does anybody have any dimensions on these? how tall and wide

Almost.....

That style of lettering would be a good start, but I want the original "K5 Blazer" or maybe just "K5" depending on how it looks...

A substantially thick, and raised block letter with strongly chamfered edges would give it a burly, substantial feel IMHO.

A while back someone posted a link to a newer K5 design (the one that looked like an Isuzu Amigo). That one had a "K5" fender badge IIRC, that might be a good one to look at for inspiration too.

For the record, I always thought Steve should have rendered the CK5 logo in metal as a fender badge (or tailgate badge).... Something that was a step up from a simple sticker would probably be a good seller.

Dimensions?

No idea, but I don't think it matters initially. Once it's designed it can be scaled to the correct size pretty easily.

For now I was just hoping to see some renderings of possible ideas.

The ultimate would be a final CNC badge that even uses the two factory locating pins on the back. That way there is no issue with crooked or otherwise oddball placements. The pins could always be filed off if someone preferred double-sided tape, I suppose....

Just messing around but your description of "blocky and masculine, with a more modern, edgy feel" is a perfect description of the CK5 logo and what I was going for.

I agree. Lop off the C and boom done, or don't :) :thumb:

I'd probably prefer to remove that "sunburst?" detail as well.... I think that didn't appear until later on (1975+?).... Then maybe make the "/" that divides the K and 5 a little thinner, and maybe add a bit more of the angle back to it?

personally, I like "Blazer" spelled out too. :waytogo:

Fender badge

I'm sure this could look better with something other than paint. Something like this? A little bit of both.

That's the spirit! :waytogo:

I'd probably pull out the black areas behind the word "Blazer" just because it really catches my eye and I see K5 Arizona ("AZ") instead of the whole word.

I like the compactness of the logo and I think it would lend itself well to a fender badge.

I read it as AZ Arizona too. lol
Instead of removing the black behind the az, maybe make the whole word chrome. :dunno:

Someone with a good program and some skills should alter it and see what we come up with, I didn't notice but Arizone does pop out when you look at it.
