So whats the desired wheelbase for rock crawling, hill climbing and mud bogging?

I'm running a 42" tire and the belly measures 32" off the ground. I'm looking to install a set of 64" springs in the rear and 56" up front and I'm trying to determine if now is the time to stretch the wb for better approach and departure. Ive read this is also better for hill climbing? Or maybe rolling the stock 106" is the ticket? Just wanted to get some opinions.

I'm running 42's, 22" belly height, 112.5" wheelbase and I like it a lot.

IMO, 110-115" is a better fit than 106.5" for 42's in the rocks.

Thats what I was kinda thinkn. Nice job on the extreme 4x4 way to hold it down for us full size guys brother!

Most guys stretch their rigs a little bit ( unless they are poor like me ) . Most of the crawlers I know in AZ are right around what Chris mentioned .

However , there will always be an obstacle on every trail that either spanks a short wheelbase rig , or spanks a long wheelbase rig . So your gonna be pissed off once in awhile anyway

If you live in the middle of AZ you get mud twice a year , so I won't know jack about that :wink1:

Where are you from in AZ ? We have a huge group here

I live near Happy Valley and I-17. I usually wheel out at table mesa because it's close.

im currently in the middle of putting together 117 inch wheelbase truggy...flat belly with a skid..i have no mesurements on that yet though...42 inch tire...we streched it to 124 and it was TO long for out terrian out here..id had gotten hi centered every where so we ended up hacking the frame off (im running 4 link) right in the center of the rear axle...pics are in my build..
