Found a Company selling a few Detroit lockers at $350.00 each and thats shipped price .

My question is, what is the differance between the " hard " locker and the "soft " locker ? which is better for street and trail use ?

thanks,

The way I understand it the Softlocker takes a different amount of force to lock and unlock. It is supposed to be quieter than the older design. Don't much matter to me I just want a $350 locker for my 60. :deal:

The lockers are for a 14bolt. Sorry if I didnt say the application.

They are on ebay. they say they were made in 1983 for the cucv's but never installed. They say they are new.

I have that locker in the rear of my truck. I have yet to hear any popping, clunking, or anything out of the ordinary. If you have an auto trans you should only notice it when both rears are digging instead of one.

I have a Detroit in the rear of my Suburban. The only sounds I hear are the tires chirping. No other sounds though.

I believe the only difference is the soft lockers have some rubber dampers in them to take out the harsh clunking noise. Otherwise they function the same.

The one I had in Big Ugly (M1008) never bothered me. Operated like a locker. Nothing scary.
