Does anyone have any experiences positive or negative with the Dewalt DW317k jigsaw? I bought one today and before i start using it figured i would see if anyone has any likes/dislikes about it.

i havent used their jigsaw but most of there tools are top of the line. As far as jigsaws go, bosch seem to be the standard of the industry...

Yeah i've gotten used to buying either Milwaukee or Dewalt power tools. I have never owed a jigsaw of my own so this is a first and just wanted any input on this particular jigsaw.

I'm not sure what the differences are, but I've got the DW331K and like it a lot.

I think all their jig saws are nice and stable when cutting. The only trouble I have is moving a little too fast and getting a blade to hang up on something. The motors are strong enough to keep going until the blade bends. I use it for metal and wood.

As far as i can tell the only difference in the DW317K versus the DW331K is the 331K has the plastic insulator piece on the bottom and also has a dust blower. I don't care about a dust blower but would have liked the insulator thingy but not for the additional $70.00.

Hmm, yea they look pretty close. I didn't pay as much as it's listed for at Sears right now. Maybe ~$149. I guess the 331 has a bigger motor and looks like it has a different keyless blade change lever. The quick change blade feature is nice.

I'm not sure the dust blower works that well. I still have to blow dust off manually sometimes. :)

Kinda late to ask this question as you have already bought one. Dewalt make good tools so you should be happy. Personally I like my Bosch. What are you using it for?

Currently i'm building a doghouse and will be using it to notch some 2x4's and also to cut a door opening in some plywood. I probably won't be using it much but i like buying quality tools regardless of how much or little use it will get.

I did just buy a Dewalt 12" double bevel miter saw tonight also. I got to use it tonight and am very happy with it.

I love the fact that us guys will use any excuse to buy new tools just to, well, have new tools. These are the same excuses I use with the wifey.:wink1: That dewalt miter is a nice tool too.

I got real tired real quick last night from using the saw on the garage floor (work bench currently has a couple t-cases strewn about) so tonight i went out and bouth the Dewalt Miter saw stand. :thumb: No more sore back and knees.

Damn, you need to teach a class to all of us other married guys on "Justification to the Wife". If I could use your techniques I would have a D60 by now. Or the "My Ring Gear Needs Replacement So I Need A New Axle" class.:D

Nice, I like their miter saws too. My only problem is the dust collector hole for mine is too small for the shop vac. I have a reducer attachment, but it still seems to throw more dust than I'd like.

I was using both the jig and the miter building some garage shelving the last few days. It's a nice change from getting greasy under the truck. I was thinking I needed a pneumatic framing nailer to help it along.

Bought me a Dewalt nail gun last year. :D

I think now all i need is the Dewalt portable table saw and stand. :D

How do you like it? It's pneumatic and not battery powered right?

I've got a craftman table saw and don't like it very much. It's not nearly powerful enough and the blade height gears get jammed easily. I say go for it!

Yep, air operated it is. I like it, haven't used it a bunch but the times i have it didn't fail me.

I just picked these two up at my local lumber store. 96$ out the door. With the 50$ gift card from my mom. Makes 46$ out of pocket!!!

Figured I'd get this one for home. The old Black and Decker is about shot.

The bits will replace the ones in my big Dewalt bit set that have broken or come up missing.

I really like their bags. With 2 of them I can carry all my cordless tools and the bit set. The hard plastic cases fill up fast with all the spare blades and bits. Those end up under a workbench pushed in the corner.

If you can find a large dewalt bit set, with drill bits, I would recommend that one for sure. It includes some sockets for bolts and a whole set of nutdriver bits. I have filled it with an assortment of stuff. Makes carrying all that stuff alot more convenient. Especially around the house. I picked one up ar lowes a couple years ago for 75$. Well worth it.

I have this same jig saw at work. 2 years and still going strong. Mostly used for cutting UHMW, lexan and thin sheet metal. 1/4 " steel takes awhile but it will cut it.

Anyway, How do you like the miter bench? I almost bought one, but don't really need it right now. I've got a couple of roller stands that work for longer boards. Maybe when I do the deck this spring I will pick one up.

Enjoy the new tools, Bruiser

Its hard to beat a good quality pneu. nailer. My Bostich framing nailer has banged in thousands of nails. So has my brad nailer.

I haven't used the Dewalt version, but wouldn't mind tring out the cordress version. I think it would be more user friendly than a Paslode.

My back thanks me today big time. I am very glad i bought the stand. I think i can even buy an extra set of the attaching brackets and probably use my metal chop saw on it as well. :thumb:
