Kinda long and I know I got bad grammer.
Discount tried to skrew me.
Well last week I order some 36/12.5/15 tls swampers from dicount. I got them mounted and put on friday and drove it home. Got to lookin at it and the tires looked kinda funny. Well the tires are mounted on a 10 inch rim and the contac part of the thread is 9.4 inchs. I figured it would be more than that. So the tire looks funny. I was so excited to get them that i didnt really look at them really well when I left. So I went in today to exchange them for the 14.5 that way it would look better. I tell him they look funny and that i wanted more contac on the ground, that i figured it would be more. Guy goes we cant do that cause it was special order and you drove it out of here:mad: . I told him the tires dont even have 20 miles on them, maybe one or to of the little fluffy piece of rubber may of came off. He goes sory cant store policy. So I go home and call another discount tire and ask if i order the same tire and drove it out and didnt like it, if they would exchange it for something else i liked? They said yes:mad: . So by this time I'm really pissed and my dad is to cause they also kept my old tires wich were still good. So my dad calls discount and chews them out and then they say I can exchange them. I went back in to place the correct order and i was still mad and didnt get to yell at the guy so I did. I told him that i was paying $130 more there than if I went some where else because I knew if I didnt like the tire or something was wrong with it they would take it back and make it right. Then I showed him 4wheelparts mag. and the tires with the price. He goes ok then I`ll change it to the ones you want. I got the 36/14.5/15 and got him to match the price of 4wheelparts. So now I just have to pay the differnce of the tire.

You would think someone spending $1300 for tires they would be helpful and want to exchange the tires if he was getting more exspencive tires. I know there losing alittle money havin to exchange them but their still make good money off the sale. I know Im young and dont know alot of things, but Im not dumb.

No offense dude, but if it was my store, there would be no way I would exchange them..

You ordered the wrong part.. THEN took the truck....

What do you expect them to do, sell them to someone else as new tires?

Well I asked the guy when I first went in there, about the tires and said that all the ones that i have seen were on 8inch rims if it would make a differnce with a 10inch rim and he said no. So I figured it wouldnt and I just need to look things over better when I get them. But it all so made them seem swirly on the highway when i changed lanes, and this being my DD I dont want that.

Every place i've ever dealt with has a "NO RETURN OR EXCHANGE" policy on special order parts. Besides that, the tires cannot be sold as new once they've been mounted on a wheel regardless if they have been driven on. I'm going to say the next time you buy something ask lots of questions to more than one person and be sure of what you're buying before you place a special order, hell, any order for that matter.

Well, thats a tad different...

maybe just pick up some 8" steelies... relatively cheap option...

i bought some 31x10.50x15 bfg ats there, thought there replacement policy was cool. Well this didn't happen to be but heard the guy on the phone when I was getting a nail fixed. Someone called in and was in from out of town and need a 33x12.50x16.5 replaced (they had paid for the policy) well he just said sorry they discounted those tires and we can't do anything.

I'm surprised you got anything 15". Wheels or tires. Guy was telling me they stopped carrying 15" stuff.... seems gey to me, I hate 20s

I have the 36 by 12.5 on 15x10's and am fine with the way they look, but would like to see what the 14.5 looks like when you get them mounted up. Post up some pics when you can. Here is what mine look like

if you were worried about the street manners or the tire then a swamper was a bad choice, the swirly thing during lane changes would have probably happened no matter what rim size you had, the tread depth and compound would have more to do with that. they should have gave you your old tires back, but if it was my store you would not have gotten an exchange.

Sounds like you got what you asked for, just with a little extra yelling. Get used to it. Lots of things in life work like that. I don't think they would have been screwing you though if they didn't fix it. Special orders usually have "special" return policies. I did the same thing about 10 years ago at discount, but not with "special order products." I got 31x10.5x15s and surprise they looked tiny, so the next day I called and went back to get 33x12.50x15s. No problem, they still had the blue on the lettering and the knobbies. And BTW I think we're all kidding ourselves if we think tires like that don't get resold as new. I've noticed a change in discount lately though. The past several times anyone I know including me has gone in for a patch, they say the tire isn't safe and they won't put it back on, oh and if we give you just one your tread depths will be too different, so how about four new tires. THis has happened four different times at two different DTs on different vehicles to different people. I'm not going back to either of those DTs.

The tires I had before were 33/12.5/15 that had about 3/4thread on them and one wasnt even a year old. They were a great street tire that I could of turned around and sold or kept incase I need an extra set.

I know there not going to ride like a cadillac and there going to be loud.

Thats what I`m saying. They have about 20 miles on them. No scuffs or scraps and a couple of the little fluffy rubber things in the middle missing. Spray some armoral on them and you couldnt even tell they well mounted.

Mini Mull , try the one at Scottsdale Rd and Oak . They are used to kissing a$$ all day and are real professional :D

That's a little drive for me. I still like the one on Gilbert and Baseline. I've never had anything but great customer service there, but they are always super busy. I should have mentioned that before. The one on Power in Superstition Springs by Costco and the one on Greenfield & Williams Field have had the negative incedents I spoke about.

I'm sorry but I have to agree with a couple of the guys on here who said you shouldn't of been able to return them. I guess i'm happy for you that they did return them but you had NO place calling up anybody and yelling at anyone when you're the one who f'd up. You ordered them, you paid for them, you live with them.

They are still legally used tires. To sell them as new is illegal:mad: Furthermore if the next buyer found out DT would be open to all sorts of legal problems.

You ordered the wrong tires and then bitched and got new tires. So in the end you got what you wanted and now you bitch here about it.

You may not be dumb, your poor spelling and bad grammar doesn't help though, but you have shown you are ignorant of life:rolleyes:

Seams anymore everyone wants to point fingers at someone else. But I still hold to the old saying "the customer is always right" when Im buying something. In other words If it was MY store I would do what I could to make the customer happy. Im not saying changing your mind like that is right.....or wrong. Its a grey area thats for sure. I do think YOU should KNOW what you want b4 you drop your money on the counter. That would have solved this whole situation without yelling.

Now as far as me. I deal with my local "Big-O-Tires". I know not everybody likes big o's tires but they sell ANY tire, and usualy give at least the free mount ballance and flat repair ballance and rotation warenty on anything they sell. I do know that big o BFG and goodyear tires, all get the exact same warenty from big o. At least at my local store. My dad started dealing with this store in the 70's, its the same owner, and thats who I deal with. They always do exactly what it takes to make me happy, and even ask if im satisfied when the work they do is done. Also I have NEVER had any big O store give me any negitivity. From SLC to St George, Roosevelt, Vernal, every store I have gone to has treated me well.

I did buy tires from "Palmers American car care" once here in Roosevelt. They promised me the same warenty as big o on a set of BFG's. Amreican car care is the chain store. While in SLC one day I got a flat, and wheeled into "Grandmas Trie" because they had the "American car care" sign. They fixed the flat. I said thank you And the guy behind the counter said wait you owe us $40something. I was TOTALY pissed explained that Palmers said I had a warenty. He told me next time I get a flat got to Palmers for the warenty. That was the one and only time I delt with any other tire store.

Last time I checked Big O in AZ didn't treat other brands warranty like Big O brands. Big O warranty was for full replacement and everything else was pro-rated. That's why my last set of BFGs (over 6 yrs ago, wow) was from discount (though I think discounts warranty is prorated now also). Just FYI for people in other states, wish our were like yours.

Technicaly big os warranty is FREE: mount, ballance, rotation, and flat repair, for the life of the tire. FREE replacement if a tire is ruined 1 time per tire, down to 4/32 (it may be 2/32) tread depth, and That has to resemble a road hazard that ruined the tire. I.E. some crackhead slashed your sidewall =not covered. After the one time free replacement they are suposed to pro rate them according to tread depth. (And something about a better pro rate than other brands, Im not sure about) Oh and any defect is covered like if your sidewall gets a hernia.

Stores are independantly owned and can vary on what warranty they provide to other brands of tire they sell. As in my other post my store covers all the free chit exept for the replacement tire if its ruined and that falls to the brands warranty. On BFG and goodyear. They may cover faulken and yokohama too.

Listen to me I should be a rep for Big-O lol. Im done now.

Did you look up the specs of the TSL's?
Did you look up the recommended wheel to mount them on for the size tire?
Any homework done on your part at all?
The guy you asked just gave 'his opinion', you took it and then cried fowl.

A 12.5" tread on a 10" wheel is a great mount but a 14.5" on a 10" wheel not so much.

I hope you don't go back yelling when the centers of the tires wear out, cause unless your run the air pressure just right, it's gonna happen quick.

Post up some pics, I'm betting there's alot of sidewall tuck, which by itself will give poor road handling manners.
