Did 1976 offer gov loc in 14bolts?

im looking at a 14 bolt and 10bolt 3/4 ton for $275. and i was wondering if the gov loc was offered in the 1976 model year? Also cant i pop the cover off and see if it has gov loc? how can i tell? thanks, ill post pics when/if i get um for fun

My '75 Suburban 14bff has one, and the 14bff that's under my '90 has one and it came from a '74 K20.

pull the cover and count the cross pins. 4 pins = open, 3 pins= gov lock. also the open carrier is cast, and the gov lock has a machined finish.
