Hi guys, Molding came off easy but the Adhesive:confused:..........well that's a different story. After trying 3M adhesive remover.....no luck:mad:. After trying WD-40......no luck:doah:. Naphtha.........no luck etc:(. I decided to try the rubber hose eraser and low and be-hold it worked. So I made a little tool, chucked it in the drill. Worked like a dream, did the entire passenger side in about an hour and a half:D. I planned on doing the entire rig today but it started dust storming and that was all for today.

It's amazing it just spins around and removes the adhesive. You have to play around with the drill speed, but once you have that down it just rubs it right off and does not hurt the paint. They make a rubber eraser wheel just for that application, but my extra tranny cooler hose worked out perfect.(Cheap also)

Interesting. Might have to try this when we remove the moulding from mine.

Go for it, i tried all that other stuff and it did not work for me. To start, get some single edge razor blades and a good holder, get behind the foam at a short angle and you wont scrape paint. Once the foam starts to peel grab the end with one hand and apply steady tension while you keep moving the blade. Get the foam off first, then fire up the eraser and it will get rid of that nearly impossible adhesive........Good Luck!

When we do it there will be a good paint job coming shortly so I'm not terribly worried about the paint. However this definitely seems like the ticket for loosing the goo.

Never heard of the rubber hose thing. But I did use the 3m eraser wheel. worked great

I did a search and found the 3M eraser, i'm sure it does work well being a flat disc and being able to get more surface contact. After reading about it my understanding was that it was made from an eraser type material (kind a like rubber) so i went and grabbed the cooler line hose and rubbed it on the adhesive and it started to come off. So i thought what the heck, i had a couple feet of cooler hose left over so that's when i made the tool.........

Got it all done, my plans were to put new moulding back on. That's why i have not taken the corner wraps off yet. But the way it looks i kind of like the no moulding look, just don't know if it's to much brown or what? What do you guys think?

I like it...but I'm debating that myself. I like how they might stop a door or something from dinging the Blazer but then again I dunno if I want to bother putting them back on after we paint it.

Yeah i like the clean look. Not bad for 26 year old paint, still needs to be rubbed out good. Ive got a few dings and scratches here and there, a little surface rust were the tailgate diesel badge used to be (i will fix that). So a little door ding would not bother me to much. It's not going to be a DD so it wont see to many parking lots other than the boat launch. Mostly a play rig. But in your case with new paint and all........that would be a tough choice.

Yeah.

The molding is expensive too. Kinda feel like if we do it there won't be much point in it other than appearances and I'm not big on form over function (or pocket book).
