Did they use a 305 in 87 with FI in a K5. I have seen a few advertized as having this combo but I always thought the FI K5's had 350's.

Probably not original, or its one of the first built 87s. My 69 firebird was first registered in march of 68. So it was built in late feb. It was one of the first to roll off the line. It has quite a few 68 parts that would interchange with the 69 model year like the a/c vents etc. were in my car.

Actaully... i have one... uhm mines a v10 so that means it was made in the later parts of 87 supposedly. I belive 15% came with the 305's and 15% came with sm465s, so i prolly have a really rare k5 =) Too bad im throwin in a turbo400 and a 350

Yeah, they did. We had them at work. In fact, an employee I knew bought one. It had a TBI 305 and 700R4. Weird but he got worse gas mileage than I do with my '90 350. It also only had Jimmy tags on it, I don't remember seeing the V1500 or V10 side tags but it was a fleet stripper.

I have no tags at all... never seen a v10 tag before.. only emblem i have is chevrolet on the tailgate and the bowte on front grille.

Is the TBI on the 305 the same as what was used on the 350's?

I have an 87 silverado k5 with a tbi 305 and 700 ...

I'll second that question -- I have a 305 ... if I get a 350 can I put the TBI on there until I do something better? tweek the ECM? bigger injectors? simple swap?

Yes. Truck 305 engines did come with tbi in 1987 according to my manuals
