Did I make a mistake?

under the driver seat is one you need a mirror to read it.

So I went out and looked and there was nothing on top of the frame rail under the driver's side. I decided to look on the passenger side and found this:

CEF177629

C=nothing?
E=1984
F=Flint

The date matches the one on the transfercase. Is there a full VIN anywhere on the frame?

hope someone chims in that knows more than me, you can ask a state trooper if your sure its not stolen

I think it's just the partial piece that you found. I have been told that a dealer can look up that S/N from that year & plant, and give you a VIN/RPO sheet. But I haven't tried doing so personally.

So one of my co-worker's son is a police officer here locally and we talked to him and he said as long as the VIN on the title and cab match I shouldn't have any problems.

I tried to transfer the title to my name this last week and the place I went to (third party DMV services place) said they couldn't because the truck needed emissions. I guess it'll be a little while before I can do that then, since I don't have any leads (or$$) on an engine right now.

I'll post up a build thread soon to explain my vision for this truck.

cool beans, if i ever blow my engine im going to the wrench a part here they have specials an you can get a ls for 400 bucks. sometimes its 299 on holiday deals
