fixed my a/c!!!:woot::woot::woot::woot:

It's only getting down to 50 degrees though...chart says 36 ozs for 134a front a/c only...

r12 says 52 ozs...think I'll do the 80% thing I've heard about so long...that's 41.6 ozs...

did it all by the book, left vacuum pump on it for 2 hours...put exactly 36 ozs 134a, and 8 ozs PAG oil...

all new components except the evaporator....5 more ozs doesn't sound like a lot, but I reckin it'll make a difference

Lol a spec for fill really? I was always taught you oil to spec and freon until the temp reaches its lowest.

lol...that's what I get for doing it right...:pimp:

If you have the specs, you always charge by weight of freon. With a lot of systems, its the only possible way to get it right.

That is why I finally broke down many years ago and bought a Dial-A-Charge. About 3 years before everybody switched to electronic scales.......

I just worked on my car A/C yesterday. I had filled it to spec last year, but the driver's side was not as cool as the passenger's side. Dual climate control was an option (mine doesn't have) so the two circuits are using different parts of the evap. Using a thermomter in the vent I added refrigerant until the temp stopped dropping. The driver's side is 8.5 degrees cooler now, compared to charging by math/weight. It blows 37 degrees with the fan on HI. (On low it is dropping under 30, so I guess I shouldn't run it on low. High side pressure was about 180. Hydrocarbons rule!)

That's another way to charge - keep adding until the outlet of the evap is about the same temp as the inlet. You need different methods for different systems.

I put another can of 134 in today...it's much cooler. the cheapo ac thermometer says it's just under 50"...

I need to check it with a higher quality t-meter before I do anything else and get an adapter for the high side port.

sorry about your a/c Wade....:doah:

When I built the engine cage/shock mounts, I figured I would never want the A/C working. Now I can't change the evap. Not enough room to pull the cover. :doah:
