Well, I had all these parts sitting around for a few months and decided to go for it this weekend. I tore the whole column apart to get to those "4 little bolts" and used some red lock-tite. Overall, much better!!:waytogo:

And always....you find things from the PO that makes you go ???:doah:

Found these beer can pull tabs as "washers" for the two main steering column nuts. Apparently, they are just as good as regular washers.....:dunno:

During the re-assembly, I also replaced the turn signal unit, and turn signal assembly. My high/low beam switch wasn't working too well so I thought those two items would fix the problem.

However, it looks like the switch down by the pedals is the one that's broken. This is where the rod from up above connects to.

Anyone know the part name/part number for this thing? I looked for awhile last night and couldn't find it.

thanks!

Classic Parts page 75 part# 53-215...... (84-91) 0n column $14.95:waytogo:

I did the same thing when I tried to find the "high beam switch" on line and at the local parts store. 2 days later, found out it is a "dimmer switch".:doah:

Slapped in a new one and good to go! So much better...thanks!

My confusion was see a lot of the switches with that metal bar on some of them and my existing one did not. Well, when I received the new one, sure enough it had the bar but it's removable once installed. It's just there for the transportation of the part I guess. Works like a charm now, thanks!

I just put one in the Jimmy today. Had it for 3 months. Is that chrome bar supposed to come out? I was changing the blinker assembly also, so I don't have it finished to try it.

Yea I believe so. The plunger won't engage the switch without taking it off. I actually pulled the bar off the new one and put it on the old one. Sure enough, it fit on the old one identically.....
