Did the stupid

My blazer has been sitting for several months, with the alt off the motor. Hooked up the battery and started it, and forgot to move the alt wires, and it shorted out, killed the engine, and won't restart.

Any clue???????

bat was new. checked the fuses, all were ok, did not check the links. also noticed that there is no check engine light anymore. engine turns over, just wont catch.

Fusible links are your problem. down by the starter.

You could use an ohm meter to check for conductivity at each end of the wire.

I've seen the links sometimes just melt the metal core and leave the insulation. The only way to tell was by "feeling it" it felt hollow, or, perform a continuity check on each one.
