Did they make HEI for straight sixes?

I believe 74 is when they started using HEI so anything after that with a 6 should use it. Yes my brothers 76 nova had one.

Just to be precise, at least in the truck world, 74's are all points and '75 was the beginning of HEI.

I'm thinking mine has the 4" covers on the engine, and I'm not really sure about the transmission.


Here is the only pic I have of this side of the engine. I've got the Sub on ebay now, so it won't belong to me for much longer.

My '74 has points.
I'd like to put a HEI distributor in it if they were used in later models.

I have a brand new set of plug wires for an inline with a coil-in-cap HEI. PM me if you're interested.
