did not want to clutter up my oil thread so i will start a new one.

91 chevy 2500 4x4 with a 350 and a whipple S/C on it.

truck ran ok when my brother bought it. put new plugs, cap, rotor, wires on it. thermostat, belt, and a few other things

after that he said it would die when putting it in reverse. if he gave it gas it would stay running and would be fine going down the road but would almost die when hitting the brakes.

sounds like a vacuum leak to me but figured i would get some opinions.

also where would i look or who would know what the timing should be on a supercharged motor? he said that the timing is around 18 degrees. way high on a naturally asperated motor but i have no clue what a S/C motor should be.

When my EGR valve went bad it behaved exactly like you are describing. When I had a massive vacuum leak at the intake manifold I would have trouble stopping because I would lose vacuum assist to my brake booster, and my idle was extremely high with the vacuum leak at the intake. Never hurts to go over everything anyway.
