Diesel cheaper than gas where you are?

If you got a worst case of 15 mpg with a 32 gallon tank (450 mile max range)... Looks like about 5 fuel stops to get home.

Beach, ND and Fargo are by far the best stops in those area's. In Fargo, take I-29 south to the first exit (32nd ave). I believe that one is a Flying J.

Why are you looking at motels? You could toss an air mattress in the back and camp out on the way home... truck stops have showers (just get some flip flops).

We'll see. I was tempted to bring my sleeping bag but again, can't fit it in the luggage.

Me with 6-8 hrs of sleep in a bed vs me snoozing not so well in the back of the truck is a big difference. If I don't sleep well I'm not super functional the next day. Just makes me nervous with that long of a drive.

Sounds about like what my buddy said. I hear stopping in Coer D'whatever for a hotel is a bad idea. He says the hotels are expensive there.

I figure if I can get 5-6 hours or so in the first night I can probably be back at Mom and dad's Friday night. Wouldn't be much more than 13-14 hours of driving per day then.

Well first off, diesel is now cheaper than gas, which is where it always was untill 2006.
Here it's about 40-50 cents cheaper.
Additives do help lubricating the seals in the IP, it's not an instant death but it will go bad faster, as for the engine itself, the lack of sulfur does make a difference but then again frequency of oil changes, type of oil and drivign styles all do that too, so for rebuilders, it's not goign to show much difference.
As for fuel on your way I would defintiely not fill up in WA if I don't have to, just get to Idaho and fill up. Montana is also cheap then after that i am not very familiar since I only travel I80 any further than MT going east.
Coeur D'Halene is where you were thining in Idaho
If you want to stop at hotels, do the Motel 6 or the super 8, they are decent and cheap.

I had to fill it in WA before going up "the hill" out of Seattle. Price wasn't bad the whole way. No more than I'd pay at home. Cheaper in most places and a low of $2.299 in...Wyoming...I think.

Diesel was almost always cheaper than gas except for in Southern Iowa where they seemed to even and at ONE station I saw billboards advertising gas as being just slightly cheaper. Probably just the gas prices dropping faster than diesel?

I grabbed some Power Service in Spokane and used it until it was gone in Iowa. Truck ran fine without it on the last couple fill ups.
I think I'll probably keep something in the truck but won't invest in ACES anymore. Just to rich for my blood and too hard to get now unfortunately.

Here Diesel is 2.29-2.49. Gas is 2.45-2.69.

DSE is a great additive. Diesel Secret Energy. Never found it in a store.

We're dropping now. I paid $2.559 for diesel on Saturday at the cheap chain while it's been $2.659 or $2.699 at the expensive places the whole time.

Regular was over $2.929 on Memorial Day weekend but has dropped down to the upper $2.60's. I'm hoping diesel drops soon.

ULSD is below plus and premium, but still above regular..... my B20 took a swift kick up to $2.999 (not a typo) per gallon.

Gas has dropped a lot lately. Saw some in the upper $2.50's yesterday.

Not sure on diesel...I don't drive by any stations that advertise it and even though I filled up last Saturday the needle has only just dropped below full.

i drove my cummins almost exclusively the 18 days i was home and loved the fact i only had to fill it up twice and one trip was a 140 mile round trip with 70 of those miles towing one of my other cummins trucks......

central florida was 2.65 for gas usually and 2.60 for diesel.....

yeah, diesel mileage is great, drove up to boston and back on my day off (yes.... about 60 hours without sleep by the time i got home from work and went to bed), i hit 931.9 miles before the low fuel light came on.. which meant i had another two gallons left. i wussed out and filled up so i didnt run out of fuel on the road. 930 miles on 15 gallons, and that includes about 100 miles of stop and go parking lot traffic in boston, and i had a 62 mpg average at that point.

diesel was $2.48 a gallon on the NJ turnpike. around $2.70-$2.80 in NY and Boston though.
