diesel fuel tank vs. gas fuel tank

somehow managed to smash in my k5's fuel tank today out on the trail and it now leaks like a shower head. i got pulled over by oro valley's finest (police) just to let me know i was leaking fuel and my exhaust was blowing it all over his cop car.. besides that, can i swap a regular 31 gallon gas motor fuel tank in place of my 6.5l diesel fuel tank?? ive found a few online at the junkyards here in town for less then $100.. any info would be great.. please!!!

The tank and sender are the same for diesel/gas (carb) so you should be good to go

What year truck do you have, i removed the two from my '74 dually to put in some TBI tanks,,,,i have these here, they will need cleaned out some, but for free,

i could possibly even bring them down there sometime, as i deliver stuff to The Home depots all the time down there......

hmmm.. sounds interesting. how big are the tanks? i kinda like the 31 gallon cuz i can go 400-500 miles when the damn thing is full. how easy would they mount up the my k5? get back to me, very interested, need to fix this asap since the k5 is a dd and i work full time and school full time

actually i have another 35 i think gallon tank here too, not a F.I. model, but may still work for ya

so im going to drop the skid plate 2nite after work and take a look at the tank. i was just reading the thread about the "clever trail fixes" and what not, somebody posted that u could rub a bar of soap over the crack of ur gas tank to help stop the leak. never heard of that? might have to give that a shot if its a minor problem..
