diesel newbie

Ok so I am supposed to be trading my jetta for an 85 K20 w/6.2 . I am new to diesel engines and want to start to get to know them. Any pointers or faqs? What about additives for the winter and such. Anything I should be aware of?
Guy says it has a Th400/Np205 behind it, think that is correct? He doesnt seem to really know much about it. Hopefully be getting it today or tomorrow.

Another thing I have been trying to read up on is a turbo install. I am also a turbo newbie and dont know much about them. Is one a good idea (i live in Durango, elevation 6200)?

It should have an NP208 tcase if it is still stock. A turbo is a very good idea at your elevation too.

Damnit I figured it would be 208 I was just hoping for 205 . Oh well now I will have two. Whats the easiest (fabrication wise) turbo install? Sidewinder system?

Definitely go aftermarket for ease of installation, particularly if you have AC
