i just got a 85 with a 6.2 the radiator needs to be replaced and i was wondering what some inexpensive options are. i can find a stock replacement locally for nearly $400.
has anyone tried a universal aluminum one from summit? then just do an external oil and trans cooler. would that work?

the radiator i'm running is a 454 core with 6.2 tanks. dunno how much that would cost to find the parts and have put together tho...

hmm.. i will have to check out something like that. mine is bad enough it cant be repaired. im open to any options that will keep the cost down but still cool effectively

too bad you didn't catch me last week. i threw out a good 6.2 radiator. :( check with kennyw - check the pacific forum, he's parting out a 6.2 truck and it's still got the radiator. might be cheaper to buy from him and pay shipping than some other options...

a radiator shop should be able to use your tanks and recore it, check that price b4 you buy a whole new 1, unless your tanks are bad, i'd check that out

the becool radiator that has 1'' core, iirc, it has 1'' round tube, a friend ordered an off brand aluminum radiator w/1'' crossover, 1/2 the $ of a becool, we thought it would be like the becool w/huge round tubes, but it had 1'' wide crossover cores that where flat like stock radiator, so compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges while you search for radiator

im kinda leaning towards the summit aluminum one. its about $180. what would my options be for an external engine oil cooler? can i just get fittings and thread them onto the factory oil lines then just run rubber hose?

thats the radiator my buddy got, if you've ever seen a becool alum. rad.....don't expect summits to look like it, they(summit) have the flat crossover, just like a stock radiator, whereas the becool's crossover tubes are round 1'' diameter, summits is 1'' wide flat crossover, like i said earlier, it did cool the sbc in his toyota tho
