Just wondering if there should be prep

I cleaned the cover up and right now its got high temp black paint on it now, but i wanted it to be painted, maybe a mural of some sort...

Should it be bare? primered? clear coated? wont see much off-road but its not just a street queen. special paints? Is plain air brushing fine?

Strip it with a flap disk or wire wheel.

CLean, prime, paint as you wish. Lots of clear over the top if you are going to paint a mural

Run it.

They don't get THAT hot, so high temp isnt' really necessary.

Diff's run under 200*, usually.
Anything above that, and the additives in yer diff oil start to break down.
Hence NASTY smelling gear oil, when the diff is mistreated.

No need for high temp.
Your diff should blow up before it ever hits the +400* range. :haha:

Clearcoat the crap out of it, and let it cure properly.

I paint and clear my diff covers.
My 14b cover is smashed in one spot, but the paint is still good. :woot:

4 good coats of clear, and you can drag it on rocks... :D

I was also thinking of getting a diff guard too to add protection ..

is yours just painted on color or is it a picture?
