i've never seen a cheaper one.. they are all the same taiwan stamping at about $120 or so... it's actually a decent stamping for a change..

and if you have swiss cheese, trust me, you'd want the full $120 version... but i don't ever recall seeing a partial one or something...

That's what I figured... I remembered you saying something along those lines... I'll be sure to get the more expensive one then. I edited the first post with the right link

huh, never seen that cheaper thing.. I'm thinking it's only the very back flat panel.. not the whole u-shaped tailpan..

To me, it looks like you've selected 2 different parts:

$26.99 = what I'd call the rear sill panel (the rear most, thin vertical panel the tailgate hinges go through)

$129.95 = rear floor pan crossmember (under the floor structure at or just forward of the sill panel)

Terminology will kill you on parts like this because companies can label stuff however they please. I know money is a factor but catalogs like LMC has with good illustrations can save you in the long run. Return freight can make a cheap part very expensive.

Here is the GM part number, see if the company can cross refence them to their parts -

Rear Floor Panel: 15571692 (the illustration in a Mitchell Collision manual appears to show the rear crossmember and sill plate included in the factory floor pan)

the thing is, that cheap thing is just one side of the tailpan, not a different piece... it's like a patch panel.. the $129 one includes that, and the rest of the actually tailpan all as one piece, as it comes from the factory.. that cheap thing is not the same as any factory piece, just a partial...

Ok, I went out and looked at my truck and see what you're talking about now. I also see that terminology got in *my* way - the piece in question is what I'm used to calling a rear crossmember.

I thought that outer tailpan panel was a few inches aft of a crossmember assembly.

Ok guys thanks for all the input. Money really isn't a factor, I just thought if I could get away with it for $30 bucks I would :D

I'll order the "real" one up and get her in there. Thanks fellas
