I was wondering if there was a place I could look at to see different options on some custom hoods. I have seen a few with cowl hoods online. So I know there out there, but not sure of a company that makes them for us.
Thanks

well, here's what I know... most custom stuff is glass... the only hoods I know in steel are stock, and a standard GM 2.5" cowl hood... ala Goodmark....

we have a member Bob (rjf) who does have a slightly different cowl in steel.. at least I think it's steel iirc.. the cowl tapers out towards the windshield.. maybe he'll chime in..

now glass is another story... stock, stock cowl, ram air, dropped, big cowl, etc, etc... be careful with glass, you usually get what you pay for in quality.....

US Body Source has the most customs out I think...

I've got their 3.5" cowl on mine.. solid quality.. about to be heavily modded...

Thanks for the info man. I did not know about the hoods. This is good info that a lot of auto seller to not tell the buyer. If anyone has any good reviews of hoods let me know
Thanks

I have a reflexxion brand on my k20, fit was good with it. Its basically the goodmark cowl hood. From what I remember they also do some with scoops or intakes or something.

it's getting a custom airpan setup, a fair amount of underside glasswork.. basically turning the cowl scoop into a cold air intake.. gonna do a vac operated flapper too at some point, but I still need a couple parts for that...

Im going to guess that he MAY be doing the ole Chevelle Cowl setup, sorta kinda. Have a flapper in the back that will allow cold air directly into the air cleaner assembly. I could be wrong. :D

working on it.. ;)

basically it's getting something like this under the air filter, made from fiberglass..

then that seals to the underside of the hood with that foamy gasket..... so all the air going thru the air filter comes thru the cowl scoop, drawing it from the base of the windshield...

eventually I'm putting a flapper in it just for fun... I have about 1/2 the parts already...

sorry for hijacking

Ryoken you could probably find some of those parts on 80-81 z28s cheaper than a chevelle. I don't know what your plan is, but they also had a cowl flapper that I believe was vacuum operated at certain throttle positions. You could also grab the air filter intake housing with the mating surface to the hood. Maybe even cut the mating surface off the inner skin of the hood and graft it into yours?

thanks.. forgot the z's had that.. I'm good with the housing/airpan structure of it all..

actually all i need for the flapper door, is the actually sheetmetal door and the diaphram, i have the main bracket... the diaphram i'll have to buy, the door, i'll more than likely just make from composite glass...

the flapper is strictly for fun as far as i'm concerned.. being the cowl will always be open to the atmosphere in the back, the flapper really wont be doing anything for flow..
