Thanks Duntz, for some reason that link isn't working for me. Is it the one with the strip in the middle with that divider that the bowtie is on?

For some reason the newer Blazer models after the 70s really bother me. I don't know why. But I am a sculptor so I am really anal about aesthetics. haha

I love everything else about the Blazers but that really annoys me.

It's this one....

The '73-80 trucks (Blazer/Jimmy, Suburban, pickups) have one basic style of the front clip, as it's called, and the '81+ trucks have another. The specific arrangement of grille and headlights will differ a bit each year or two within those ranges, but those are the major pairs.

Basically, it sounds like you want to put the older 73-80 front clip onto your '84 truck. This is doable if you can find all of the donor pieces, though where the wipers go on the cover ("cowl") will be different.

You can find exploded parts diagrams on the LMC site:

Not that you'd buy all the parts new, likely, but find them from somebody parting a truck on Craigslist or the like, but it gives you an idea of how it all goes together.

As mentioned, you'd need to swap everything, not just the fenders and hood.

Oh, and there's a tech article about updating the older, 73-80 style to the newest (88-91), so you'd just be working backwards...

... that should also give you an idea of what's involved.

Thanks Duntz, yeah.. that's the one that bugs me for some reason.

Dremu.. thanks man. That is brilliant! I would be overjoyed if I can get it to work.. I love the older style. I would have my dream vehicle then.. I love my diesel and everything else about my current Blazer.. it's like mixing the best of the old and new. :D

Hmmmm... I wonder what the old style INTERIOR looks like... (evil grin) :P

Dremu.. just saw the update too.. :D wow!.. You are a lifesaver! I wish I would have inquired about this LONG ago...
