Now I know this isnt exactly an ideal thing BUT if I can make it work for now than make payments. I have a 96 S-10 2.2L 5 speed standard cab 2 wheel drive. I also have a 16 foot fishing boat, weighs approx 1000-1200 lbs boat, fuel, engine, and gear. My question will it do it, I know its not going to like it but I will it be able to pull it out of the water. I used to pull it with my dads suburban but he totaled it. My moms Rendevous didnt have much trouble with it really either. Just looking for maybe some input from someone who has tried towing with an S10.

no prob...I towed with my 94 same truck, a utility trailer and sand/other stuff weighing probably 2K with it short distances...but braking is iffy at that weight. 1000 shouldn't be a big deal. Getting out of the water I don't know about, but towing it shouldn't be any problem.

Thats good to hear, I kinda figured it would take a little longer to stop it. Its maybe 15-20 miles to the bay I should just quit bein a sissy and try it. Im not going to try and drag it down the expressway doin 70.

I had a S-15 Jimmy with a 4.3L and it towed a similar combo with ease. I have to assume your pickup would do OK.

with a one legger, it might suck coming back off the ramp, just depends on how slippery it is

Is also worry about the slickness factor coming up the loading ramp. With weight on it may not be bad. Gona have to do some spinning. 2.2 ain't got a ton of power but 1000 pounds is les than the bed is rated for so you should be fine on the road. Hell if you ever had 3 buddies in the back you almost got 800 pounds with you in the cab already.

Yeah I think it might be a little sketchy. Question I stopped at the dealer today 02 half ton extended cab 4x4 power seats locks and windows good rubber probally the straightest looking truck ive seen. 114000 miles beautiful inside and out. Guy bought it from the dealer new in 02 and just traded it in. There asking close to 10,000 which is a little high I was thinking closer to 8500 am I on drugs or does that sound like a decent deal. Around here all ive seen is high priced junk not too often something nice pops up and when it does its not around long.

What engine? I bought an 03, loaded, literally every option except the z71 package, and I got it out the door for 10k. I think they were asking around 11ish. Clean as hell too.

Offer them 7500 and see what they say. You always want to lowball them first then come up in negotiations. They will counter offer and you still get a better deal in the end. Sounds like a decent truck.

I used my old 92 s10 4banger auto to tow my 4 place trailer with 3 quads on and once in a pinch to go get my camaro. With the quads it wasn't bad but the camaro nearly killed it.

Well I pick it up Monday I spent a good hour crawling around under it with a flashlight checking everything over its spotless. Ended up getting it for 9300 its a little high but I think for the truck it really is worth it. O2 Z71 5.3 4x4 power seats, locks, mirrors, all sorts of good stuff. Wish I had a couple pictures to post
