I just put a new Auburn locker in my k5 and I need to change the oil and check out the gears to make sure it's runnning okay and I was wonderin if I could use any additive for posi differentials or if I had to use the additive that Auburn sells? Any help?

On Auburns I have always used the GM or Ford Friction modifier. Never had any problems. That don't make it right. Just what I do.

Yeah that's what I used and it's runnin good now, changed my engine oil too and I put slick 50 in it and I'm getn so much better compression and my engine is runnin so much better now :)

Yes posi additive is a must.

And slick 50 is supposedly the $hit :thumb:

Quaker state used to have 5w30 and 10w30 with slick 50 additive and thats what me and my dad ran in our vehicles for the longest time. Now I cant find it anymore :(

Yeah I put 15w-40 and a quart of slick 50 and it runs souch better. Only problem is that it costs 15 dollars a quart... Dueling do you know if the transfer case has it's own oil resivoir or if it runs out of the transmission oil?

I know the transfer case in my K10 with an NP208 has its own reservoir. Mine has a manual SM465 tranny though. I'd be amazed if the ones with auto trans. had a different reservoir however.

All the transfer cases are seperate fluid, even if the fluid is the same type.

Only time they share fluid is when the seals between fail!
