digital multi-meters

Noone likes Sperry Rand?????????? I've been using the same one for over 10 years. Its been dropped, kicked, sat in water for days (leaky tool box), and generally ignored till needed. I just wish the leads were a little longer.:doah:

most meter leads are interchangable... Being in the boat biz, I must have every variation there is... alligator, probe, amp clamp, yada, yada.....

The Mac guy knows to show me any new ones that come out! :haha:

got the extendable test leads? Or magnetic ones? Matco guy kept trying to sell the Magnetic ones when they came out.

yup, got the magnetic ones about a month ago... sweet on the boats, we'll see how they hold up... my meter takes a beating...

Our Mac guy rocks..... Truck is always stuffed with stuff.... And he carries lots of brands... Milwaukee, ATD, etc...

royken, I don't know how specialized your leads are but for us the best bet is to just make our own. You get exactly what you want, in the length you want, and they end up being cheaper if you can get the consumables from the boss:D

Normally, the ones I use have male bananas for the meter end and female bananas for the other. Then I stick what ever I need to adapt to into that. I'll take a pic if that doesn't make sense.

Why the 87? You would never need to take an RMS reading on a car. Save some money and get the 73 or 77 instead.....if you really want a Fluke.

I have the Blue Point #EEDM504C, works great with the test lead pack I have. Never had a problem with it and the auto power shut-off has saved my butt several times.

GM recommends the fluke 87, so I'm thinking about getting that one.

Try to find out why. If you need true RMS or to hold tolerances or something to do with calibtations get it. But they are not cheep.
