Hey guys, i built an '88 5.7L for my k5. I put headers on it, and now trying to find a dipstick & tube that comes up from the block (pass side) and clears the headers, and also is long anough for you to reach the dipstick.
Anyone else have this issue ?

I marked that as a truck dipstick. It came off a 1990s truck. Mid-late 90's, C/K. I purchased some online, they were wrong. Got this one from the wrecking yard for like $5.

I believe vans of that era had even longer ones that push it up to near the core support.

Thank you !
I'm on dipstick #3 and the guys at summit swear they'll fit, but they don't. Btw, yours looks very much like one i have, but the bend is right where the header primary tube goes.

You are welcome. Not sure if you'd find them searching dipstick or not, but I recall at least one thread on them. I'll see if I can find it. Not a great pic but here's the same dipstick with headers:

Here's a thread, but it just mentions the G van dipstick: https://ck5.com/forums/threads/aftermarket-dipstick-woes.342692/#post-4153855

I'm not so old yet that I can't reach the style I have lol. The car one would irritate me to no end however.

That seems to fit fine. I'll snap a pic of mine, the tubes are bent differently. Well, it's difficult to see, but I'm going to search for a 90's era trk dipstick, and maybe a van.

Do you have ez access to that dipstick still ? Or is that an old pic ? I'm looking for the measurement from the top of the hole in the blovk, to the top of the headers. I may be able to rebend one of these that didnt fit.

Unfortunately if you are asking me, its in the truck. Getting a decent measurement would be pretty tough I think. If you think it's possible, let me know and I'll try.

Based on your pic, it looks like mine would probably fit IF it hugged the block a bit more? I want to say I've seen someone that broke the bottom of the dipstick off, so it seems some might be a bit brittle to bend. But if you tried to bend it up above the header tube, perhaps there is enough distance that it wouldn't put all the stress on one spot.

I don't want you trying to measure on my behalf of the engine is in
That'd be rough.
I tool a torch to the tube, and when it was orange, it bent pretty easy. It's a spare, so nothing to loose by trying, right I'll find a block and pull a measure
Thank you for yhe ideas on the truck & van tunes ! If all else fails I will go that route.
