Where do I get a correct dipstick tube for a vortec style 350 ? The dipstick that owned the truck before me had the wrong one in it and it pushes oil out like crazy. When I try to search the typical places I get nothing.

I am suspicious of just being the wrong dipstick tube being the cause of oil "spitting out". upload a picture of your engine both valve covers and the dip stick.
This may be more serious then just an incorrect tube.

I’m very curious what you mean by “pushes oil out”????

Weeping from the press fit where the tube inserts into the block?

Or is there oil coming out of the dipstick tube???

Just FYI- I had a 350 couple years ago… when you rev the engine above 2500rpm, it would push the dipstick up and out of the tube 3/4 of an inch, and then barf oil into the engine bay, and splatter the underside of the hood…
Hopefully that’s not what you meant, because in my case, I had 2 broken piston rings on one of the pistons -pressurized the crankcase when the spark plug fired and the RPMs went up.

Well, I sure hope that's not the case. I don't thimk that it was the correct dipstick tube. Nor was it installed correctly. Where they had the bracket on it bolted to the engine was holding it up so far that the dipstick was never really seated, probably 3"-4" away.

You can still get Spectre 5728, but I suspect it sucks. Is yours on the DS or PS? You might get lucky posting in the Parts Wanted forum. It might help to provide a picture of what you have - so we at least know one that doesn't fit - or give guidance to make it fit.

I'm curious how you've been checking your oil with the tube up so high. Ultimately, anything that fit and mount securely will work - as long as the dipstick ends up measuring correctly. It is possible to shorten a dipstick.

Last time I was dealing with dipstick tubes I kept getting wrong lengths. I ended up hammering in the tube that was closest and then cutting down a longer dipstick to make everything correct. Do a fresh oil change and make a new mark that is correct for your engine.

I am going to be doing the dip stick game with my new big block. The 87 tube and stick were cut, and none with the 96 marine engine with custom pan. Boneyard picking, as the gm tube is @ $100, and unavailable atm

So, heres the update on my dipstick/oil situation. Installed the 921-244 dipstick tube and the 917-302 dipstick. The tube seemed to be a press fit, so I had to use something to tap it down into the block. I did an oil change. New filter and 5 quarts of oil. It registers at the top of the marked area on the dipstick. First test drive I went about 8-10 miles varying speeds and getting on it a bit. I arrived where I was going and there was o ton of oil in the #2and 4 spark plug area, the hood above that area and the frame rail in front of that area. I went home, cleaned up the oil. Mounted a camera on the frame rail showing the whole side of tge block where the dipstick tube is and under the manifold. Went for another test drive abou 4 miles, getting on it as much as I can. I get home and everything is still totally dry.
Also, oil pressure is 45 + warm and idling in gear on the factory guage.
Not sure what to think.

Mine still needs five quarts with the larger oil pan and factory oil cooler. If they drain back they don't seem to do so quickly.
