dipsticks =/

Not sure what the deal is, I know that mine was replaced, but the tube itself appears to be unchanged. When I add 2.5 quarts I am at the full mark on the stick. I did a complete oil change, added 5 quarts, then filed a line in the stick. Driver's side dipstick, and the tube appears to be uncut, the original convex dent is on the top of the tube, but I haven't pulled it out of the engine to know for certain.

What do you mean by this? Maybe a pic to show me.

I don't have my Blazer here tonight, but on mine there is a small area that the tube is pressed out. It looks similiar to a flare on a brake line, except it is further down the tube. When the dipstick is fully seated, it is on that little ridge.

And, I am definitely not arguing with you, I know you have built way more engines than I have.

On my K5(drivers side dip) I'm pretty sure my tube was cut or my dipstick not original to the truck. The dipstick would hit the bottom of the pan throwing off the readings every time, ended up having to trim about 1.5" or so off it.
