Dirtymax guys

Did you get lucky and not have overheating issues with the LLY?
It has not overheated, but towards the end of the water pump’s life, the radiator fan started to engage more often.
When it started leaking out the weep hole, I changed it.

I have never seen the gauge go above normal operating temperature.

Have a 2004.5 LLY with about 220k. Strongly recommend a lift pump! The OEM fuel filter housing cracked and left me stranded.
Replaced water pump, injectors, FICM, and rebuilt the transfer case. Normal maintenance stuff like, ball joints, tie rods, brakes, shock and carrier bearing have been replaced. The instrument clusters are flaky and it now has a power draw that kills the battery in a couple of days... other than that it's been a great truck!

Replaced it with a newer diesel and it just sits in the shop now.

That's not a site you see every day. Normally the beamer is on the trailer.

The beamer started on the trailer. I was hauling it down south when duraslug died.
Worse part, the chevy got about 14mpg with the beamer on back while the beamer got almost 19mpg towing the duraslug.
The air suspension wasn't happy, but that little 3.0 diesel didn't miss a lick.

Well, it doesn't look like that check is coming.
It was for an award I got a year ago...?
Prick teasers..lol

Still have a lawsuit in motion for the wreck with the K5, so there's that...

Getting a second opinion from a diesel truck dealer from a reliability standpoint 2005-2007 with 2006 being the most sought after

LBZ’s are most sought after.
The 06 LLY’s are an LBZ engine without the LBZ tune.

I like the braggers…
my LLY gets 17 empty, 12 pulling 7k, 9 pulling 11k.
show me that 20 pulling 10k truck again!

Real world mpg for my 2018 3500 Denali with the L5P. I don't drive it hard, and I don't drive at 90 mph.

Empty, commuting, 60% highway @ 65 mph. 16 mpg

Towing our 30 foot 5th wheel, 10,000 lbs. Pretty tall unit at 12'2" so aero drag is a big factor. 11.9 mpg

DEF use, during commute, DD duty. A 2.5 gallon cube lasts 4-5 months. Towing it can use a fair bit as the exhaust brake uses DEF to help do it's thing.

Last time I road tripped my parents 15 dmax I was low 20’s at 75mph. It doesn’t like 65mph. Gets worse mileage. At 85 you can do a 200 mile road trip on ~1/4 tank. Might be a freak but this is personal experience.

20yrs ago if you told me exhaust fluid was going to be a thing I’d have laughed.
