Disassemble Auto Locking Hubs?

WTF? This has got to be the best kept secret in the history of the internet.

I'll admit...I have no idea how to disassemble a 4wd front end. How in the hell do you break down the auto locking hub assembly? Got loose hub nuts and I need to tighten it all up but I have no idea how to get to them.

How the hell do you get these things apart?:dunno:
 
Theres some bolts on the outside of the hub lock. take thoose out and then you can remove the cap....then theres a big C clip in there you have to ake it out and then you can slide the hub body off.
 
They said "auto locking"...

What kind of vehicle we working with here? Old solid axle K series truck? Or something else?
 
Yeah, sorry. 88 K20 Suburban. Dana 60 (?). Got it apart...finally. Torque specs?

Just to note that from the factory it's a GM 10-bolt front end, very similar to a Dana 44.

The big honkin' hub nuts are complicated, but I seem to recall tightening the inside until the wheel drags, then back off a smidge (or there may be a torque spec), then the locking nut, then the outer one.
