Disc brake conversion -- how DO you tell when the two ends lock up?

I'm not remotely close to doing mine, but I'm curious. Do you stick the thing up on jacks and put it in gear... or how do you tell if the front brakes lock up before the rear or vice versa?

You drive the truck. You slam on the brakes with somone watching. They tell you which locked up first.

Drive it. My rear brakes lock up long before my front ones, especially if I run with empty gas tanks and no tailgate.
