I have a 97 chevy 3/4 ton with a 14 bolt. I am wanting do put disc brakes on the rear will the kit for the older trucks like i put on my 77 14 bolt. The axle is not the one with slip on drums its the kind that has drum then hub. Thanks Denny

The newer axles require something different. At least one manufacturer has a kit for this:

I'd also check with Kert @ DIY4X

And see if he's got the goods or can fix you up -- he's very good with custom or one-off orders.

Blackbird's is good too, I bought a kit from them, as long as they have the Caddy calipers in stock. They only sell entire kits, however, and won't piecemeal anything.

I don't think that kit will work cause it says slide on drums. My drums are not slide on they are just like the older axle. I know it sounds weird but thats what the truck came with from the factory i've owned it since day one. I just figured instead of pullen eveerything apart to do brakes might as well up grade.

*)#$@&*$@ You did say it's NOT the one with slip-on drums ... I missed that. I saw "slip-on" and ran. :doah:

You might call Blackbirds, see what they say. Phone is better than email for them.

I see that TSM also lists a kit for the newer axles, so maybe worth calling them too.
