I say CUCV Pickup.

1: No Smog - Diesel
2: Fuel Injection - Diesel
3: Economy - Diesel
4: SRW 1 Tons 4.56s gears, Rear Detroit
5: One ton frame = stronger, taller, more rigid.
6: Weight : Lightish 1 ton.
7: Military = Cool.
8: Can be had for cheap

Lift it, chop the overhang off the back, trim the fenders to your tires, standard Xover etc., and GO. (Run at least 38s).

On the other hand...I have a friend who wants to build a more mild rig. No more than 35s, wants a manual. I'm thinking K10 shortbed.

Anyone else?

Nothing is cheap unless you are going to buy all you parts from a junkyard and install them yourself (TAkE FOREVER TO DO THIS WAY). Everything you need can not come from a junk yard anyhow. Go with a diesel or a CUCV. But hey thats just me

I vote K10 step side because step sides are just better. :D

Also SM465 all the way in whatever your friend gets :waytogo:

Yeah I narrow mine down between the CUCV and the diesel, Down to Just the diesel K5, I want to convert my K5 to a diesel. Yikes , that aint cheap to do though. Yep diesel K5 go with it

Thats cool guess your lucky huh. How did you manage to do that. Please help a krazy boy out. I just gotta know. I am dying to swap out my 350

haha yeah... it was luck basically.. drivin home one day and saw a blazer on the side of the road. stopped and looked and it turned out to be an 83 k5 with the 6.2L diesel in it... for 2000. :D wish i could be of some help to you though...

Dang that is sweet. Maybe I will win the lottery one day and I can Throw a 6.6 liter Duramax in my truck. I'd pee on myself if that happened, but until then i will just keep my eyes peeled.

I decided that if I ever buy another old chevy it would have to be a 1 ton if it was a 4x4. come to think of it I did just buy a 4x4 crew cab last year. :D
