Diseal in a sub

Here's the deal, im getting a 88ish sub, however my friend is pullin the motor, trans and tcase. Would it be feasable to put a diesel in there? And if so what would be the best one? I have 0 diesel exp and im thinking about making this a tow rig for my jimmy. Possibly something turbo'd. Anyone ever do anything like this?

or should i just part it out and buy a read tow rig?

lot's of people do the diesel swap and use a 6.2 L diesel which was an option in many 82+ chev. trucks. pretty straight forward swap.
