:confused:Hi i recently swaped an old 350 TBI (87) with a new 383 carb eng. (pre 86) so my question is how thethis distrabuter plug in to the stok wiring harness? the distrabuter that is in the eng is for a TBI setup and well im running a carb whick i think requires a vacume style distrabuter. is there a way of making it work and if so what the setup?
thanks
james

With a carb you need a vacuum advance distributor. A TBI one is controlled by the computer etc.

Or put the TBI back on and hook everything up and have a new chip burned for the computer.

ok i got that thanks...but will the vacume dist. plug in to the stock wiring harness or will i need to cut an splice?

An hei distributor only requires one power wire to it.

I can't remember if the wire comes from the starter solenoid or not. Someone will chime in.

But no it won't just hook up.

ok got it...it jus seemd like the wiring harness should have more pluged in to in to power the rest of the blazers computer.

I'm cunfuzzled.

If your running a carb. The computer does no good anymore.

LOL ok I understand...NO TBI equipment means no computer!! Ugh. Sooo ill order an HEI distro an see how to power it up. Sound correct?

Sounds good to me.

No point in ripping any of the TBI harness out if you swap to carb also if you are planning on it. You may decide later on to go back to TBI when you realize how much better mileage And off road capable they are.

Yup my exact thinking...I dn know a lot about TBI yet. It seems a lot of money cos I went from a stock 350 to a 383 pushing 430HP my goal is to research it an upgrade. Thanks for the help too
