Distributer HELP!

Ok so when we took of my distributer we didnt lable #1, soooooooo now we dont know where any of the plugs go. Can anyone help me time my engine. My distributer is the ac delco or delco remy. The stock ones i belive.
 
well crap i just replaced my wires and have a diagram laying on my table at the house. if nobody has it by the time i get there ill throw it up here for ya
 
I'm guessing you've got a V-8? If you've got HEI I believe you need to rotate the numbers on the distributor one spot counterclockwise.

LOL. Been there, done that, but not for a long time. Even your el-cheapo Chilton's or Hayne have the firing order. :shame: for not having the book.

In this regard it's no matter who makes the dizzy, just how many cylinders.

Turn the engine over until the timing mark is on the tab. Lift off the dizzy cap and the rotor will be pointing at either the #1 terminal (toward the front of the engine) or the #6 terminal (toward the firewall). Start there and work through the firing order. Twist dizzy back and forth until it runs nice and sounds good :D
