Hi, Im new here and this is my first post, but I have a question I need some help with. I wont go into a lot of detail right now, but my main question is how would you replace the distributor on an 83 Blazer. Its the HEI- I know how to get it out and all that, but I'm just not sure what to do to put it in correctly. Do I just mark the position of the rotor and vacuum cannister and line the marks up the new distributor? Please help, this has to do with me getting my first blazer.

ok, I just dont wanna completely screw up the timing, i just wanna get the thing to run so i can buy it.

here is a quick overview
get the engine to TDC on number one cylinder then remove the distributor, put new one in with rotor pointing to the number one terminal install hook up and then time it with a timing light.

Ok, the "number one terminal" is what the wire plugs into on the cap right? And i read somewhere about the oil pump pin, so does the distributor only go in one way, or do I have to worry about being a couple teeth off or anything?

you do have to make sure it goes in right you can put it in a few teeth off. Look on the cap it should have the number one marked. put the cap on the distributo and mark on the distributor body where number 1 is then when you install it keep the rotor pointed at that mark

If anyone else has any tips/thoughts, please let me know.
