I took my Jimmy in to have a new distributor. It ran fine when I got it back but then I decided to change the spark plug wires. Like an idiot, I didn’t take notice of where the number one wire was so when I went to start the engine up it wouldn’t run. I centered timing mark at 0° top dead center took off the cap and the rotor is facing directly at the firewall. My question is should I just start with the number one wire facing the firewall or should I put it in 180° so it’s facing the front engine does it matter?

The timing pointer at zero could be on exhaust stroke (180 off).
Should pull the number one plug and put your finger over the hole while someone bumps the starter. When it blows your finger off, slowly roll it by hand to zero on tab and see where the rotor is pointing.

Aha thank you I will try tomorrow thank you both, I always appreciate the help on here got me through many of my mistakes without having to pay someone else

Thank you guys I got it fired up your method made it extremely easy the shop has it installed with what I would call the number two terminal first one clockwise after the screw firing so I moved each plug back one spot and it’s running
