divorced choke vaccum line Q

ok on the 70s (1705 and under) series quadrajets with the divorced choke, AKA 4MV carbs- does anyone know what type of source the long metal tube out the passenger side of the carb is- where the choke assembly step cam parts are located on the side of the carb

anyone happen to know what GM originally used the port for/what it was intended for ?

Well on my jimmy i have that port hooked up to the defroster/vent vacuum supply canister on the passenger side. Hope this helps. oh yeah I believe if you have a stock air cleaner the vacuum line for the air vent for warm up goes there? Later
