I know K5's are too short for this set up but I have some general questions about divorced T-cases.

I have a 97 2500 4x4 Dodge/Cummins (the daily driver) and would like to get a gear driven case in the truck. I looked on the adpater suppliers sites and don't find any Dodge auto tranny adapters for the NP 205. Divorced drivers side drop 205s are common, cheap, very rebuildable and strong. The truck is an extented cab, long bed, so I know I have plenty of room. I realize a 2wd tranny would need to be found and used.

Q: Is this set up prone to vibration?
Q: Are the 205's stronger than the huge NP aluminum, chain driven case in the truck currently?
Q: Do spline/yoke rear drive shaft set ups vibrate more than yoke-into-T-case set ups?

The truck sees a bunch of highway miles (currently 300,000 on the odometer) so I want to insure that I can run 75 mph without vibration. I will be installing the lock out hub conversion kit this year and the 205 install would be a couple of years away...if this is "do-able"

I like the idea of "all-gear iron" and the drive home capability without the rear driveshaft, and the twin stick would be handy for handling trailers, etc.

Thanks in advance for your inputs.

205 is a gear drive monstor and 32 spline in and out all 3 ways.

if mounted correctly and drivelines set correctly no problems with both.

i know a guy who has a ext cab short bed 92 dodge 5.9 6 speed with 46" mickey tohpshon claws. 5.13 gears detroints front & rear mosher shafts front dyna trac live spindle kit front . bla bla bla and 750hp at the motor from dyno shop.

he is still running the stock tcase in it no problem.

and just last weekend he did a truck pull and took 1st place with trophey and cash and every one said no way he will break or blow up.

so any thing is possible in a 5.9 cummins dodge. yes trannys suck in auto but the rest is up in the air. . . . . . . . . . .
