DIY Shackle Flip Problem

I had an interesting problem w/ my DIY shackle flip brakets. First, none of the holes lined up that were in the frame. I had to drill all new holes and I don't mean they were a little off-center, they weren't even close... about 1" off in different directions.

The second part to this is that I initially installed the brackets backwards to accomodate the 4" lift 56's I have for the rear. After installing them, I put in the leaf springs and the shackle angle was about -30 degrees (angled towards the front of the truck).

Do I have an oddball truck or what? It's an 86 Blazer, 305 engine w/ 700R4 and 208 transfer case. The front end has dual shocks and the rear used to have 52" leaf springs.

I don't doubt you're products Kert, I've ordered a few things from you before. I think there's a problem on my end, I just want to know what I did wrong.

It's a little late now but you probably needed to call Kert 1st. Could be as simple as wrong parts pulled and shipped.

Kert had contacted me when I had posted in another thread. The possibility is there that I may have ordered the wrong kit. I'm going to try and have pictures up today.

Here's shots of the inside of the brackets while they're mounted up. Also included, is how well the shackles don't line up. I'm pretty sure I ordered the wrong shackle flips.

Kert - Is there any way you can check my order to confirm this? I don't have the e-mail with my order anymore.

See if you can throw up some pics of the flip brackets from the outside of the frame.

Didnt you talk to Kert and get this worked out as you bought the wrong brackets???

Maybe that was someone else?
That's what was suggested, so I did some digging around. Finally thought to check the Paypal history and there it was. I ordered the Gen1 kit. :idiot:

The little notches in the backing plates indicate First gen:doah: bummer dood.

Ok, so now I know what I did wrong. Now I need to figure out how to fix it. Does anyone happen to know how much narrower the 1st gen springs are than on my 86? I got a measurement of 3" once and 2" the other (using the inside and outside of the spring packs respectively). I'm just going to widen the hangars at the steel shop where I work.

Have you talked to Kert to see if you can swap them, or get some credit on a new set?
I've already painted them and the holes have some drill marks (where I re-drilled the frame and went into the brackets holes). Also, it's my goof up and I wouldn't expect anything for it. Honestly, I'd deny myself anything if the roles were reversed, lol.

Ok, so can anyone tell me what they're measurement is from outside of the bushings? I'm just going to widen mine that much...

I can get you that number tomorrow when I'm at the shop again.

Thanks Kert, you've been really helpful so far. I believe they need to go out 1" (on each side).
Just for general notification, I completely aknowledge that this was my fault 100%.

I think your right at the 1". I just can't remember that for fact for some reason so I'm gona check it out.

Sorry we didn't figure this out quicker. IF there's still any doubt, shoot me some photos. Ya never know what we might be able to do.

yeah 1". Same as the spring perch, must have been asleep at the wheel last night!
