A great kudo's to Kert and Tracy for their patience and willingness to work with me to get these rear spring hangers correct.

The very first set he sent me, I made a thread about them, he got them back and is using them on his SWB project.

The second set he sent me was a simple case of misunderstanding of the different widths of the K5 frames from old and new.

After a brief explaination and sending some pics back to him with the 2nd set mocked up on my '74 frame, he set out to fab yet another set.

As they say, 3rd times the charm. Here are a few pics. I have the 2nd and 3rd set here for comparison.

See if you can spot it:

good deal. Kert will always have my business with the customer service and quality products he prides himself on:bow:

Left wider than the right?? or optical illusion.

Never worked with Kert myself but you can bet your ass he'll be the one i go to if i need something ;)

Yep, the left one is the wider one which is the corrected part.

These hangers fit the narrower K5 frame and will allow the use of a true 1 ton rear end with the narrow spring perch position. I do not want nor plan to cut and relocate the perches and if for any reason plans change and I want to use the D70HD for something else, I can simply remove it and install the factory hangers to put the wider perch axles under it.

The hangers on the right side with the narrower position would fit the wider, newer frames and still use a true 1 ton rear. These are going back to Kert tomorrow. I'd say someone with a K5 and wide frame could snatch these up and bolt a true 1 ton to it.

I plan on the 1 ton Shackle Flip N Switch from Kert soon. These will keep the narrow perch also.

Hell, the whole damn project is getting the DIY4X treatment.:bow::bow: I've already got the A-Bomb waiting to go on it, too. ;)

So these will fit a (91) K5 frame? If so, how far back can you push the springs?

I'm running 56's backwards so my axle is 4" back. Would these let me use the 56's mounted correctly (so my axle is on the correct side of the spring arch) and still push the axle back?

Nice looking stuff! Kert is da man! I ran into a problem with my b-52s, we figured out the problem and he was quick to send out another set, no extra charge. Great parts, great customer service, how can you go wrong?!

I think the bolt pattern is different on the '91 frame. To be honest, at this point, I'm really not sure what these will fit anymore. Wes knows more about them then I do right now.:D

That and coming off of a 29 hour shift at the shop, I have brain fry so I'm not worth a damn anyway.

I have made a set of these, or very similar for Mrk5 a long time ago and I believe his frame was the later model 2nd gen. 81-87.(91)

Oh crap! Sorry John!

Yeah, as Kert said, the bolt pattern may be different. All I can say is that the older frames have 4 bolt holes on the side of the rails and the newer ones have 6. Using these hangers would be a matter of just drilling 2 more holes per hanger OR redrilling all 6. That simple.

These hangers, #2, are like Mrk5's, as far as width goes to mount a true 1 ton rear. Only the mount holes are different.

Kert can check them when he gets them back. I think he has on his files somewhere of both bolt patterns. If different, and if it makes a difference, I'm betting he can weld the holes shut and redrill the 6 new ones on each hanger.

Thanks Wes, what about axle relocation? How far do they adjust?

1" forward or backward of the stock middle hole.

My plans now are trying to see how I can fit 63's with these hangers using the forwardmost hole and DIY Flip N Switch brackets flipped around. I'm betting I will still need to relocate the FNS brackets back slightly.

On the front, I'd like to use 56's with the springs mounted at the forwardmost holes and keep the rear shackle in the same position. I still don't want to cut any big holes in the frame.

Both front and rear springs will likely see the 1" zero-rates but with the axles mounted 1.5" forward on front and backwards on rear. I'm trying to gain as much wheelbase I can with a Blazer frame.

Then I'm gonna slap an S10 body on it. At least the cab-forward. I'm waiting to see what I find before I determine whether a bed will fit or not.

You will definitly need to move the shackle hanger back. Mine is pointed rearward and moved back a good 5 inches or so. Sounds like a cool build!

The springs will all depend on how 56's will fit on the front first. If they don't work, I'll put them in the rear, flipped around to gain the 4" longer wheelbase and put regular 52's up front.
