Ground off the old rivits and then used 2 hole saws to cut the bigger holes.

That is awesome! Kinda a more simple project but one that everyone who has'nt done it wants to do. Stupid inspiration and having my trucks be 4 hours away!

yeah, it wasnt to bad at all, lil annoying grinding off the rivits and you do need 2 different size hole saws but worked great! I even called Kurt and asked him a few questions along the way. Always a great man to deal w/!

Did you relocate the shackle hanger or just put the new one in the original location? Why did it require two hole saws?

for the masses, a carbide burr in a die grinder hogs the hole out smooth and quickly to the size of the larger hangars...

If you have carbide bits. I couldn't find them anywhere except a snapon/mac truck so i can see the double hole saw idea being more practical as local hardware stores stock them. Then again the carbide bits are faster and more convienent. Took me a week to get a set and if i had to "get it done" id use the holesaw trick.

my bad.. one of those items I've been thru dozens in my life and just assume everyone has.. it's a daily tool for me at work.. steel, fiberglass, etc...

99% of the time I use the aggresive, aluminum ones these days, from cones to barrels, etc.. I haven't used a "finer" grit steel one in years...

pro's/con's to this one as opposed to an ORD style...? just what you had, i guess...?

Yeah kurts stuff is great. You should definately fix that shackle angle. The easiest way I found to do it is to use what are the rear holes as the new front holes.

yeah the price was great, and i called up kurt to ask what to use and he comment on a hole saw, so i went with it. I would loved to have an air grinder with a bit on it, but i dont have a compressor, sooo drill it was! should work out great. Now i just need the front hanger set up and ill have diy4x all around! oh yeah the shackle angle is when the truck is still in the air.
